Print at Actual Size / 100%. Match the paper size and orientation in your print dialog. Turn off headers and footers, and avoid Fit to Page or automatic scaling. Some browser print dialogs or embedded browsers may ignore page size or offer no PDF destination. If that happens, use a current desktop Chrome or Edge and verify one saved PDF or test sheet. Printer margins and browser settings can affect the result.

How to use graph paper

  1. Choose A4 or US Letter to match the sheet in your printer, then choose Vertical or Horizontal.
  2. Set your margin and pattern settings. The preview updates when all values are valid. Switching units converts the displayed measurements.
  3. Select Print / Save as PDF, or download an SVG with physical page dimensions. Restore Tool Defaults returns to ordinary paper; Restore This Preset reloads the selected task preset.

Adjustable settings explained

Grid spacing is line-center distance. Major line every (0 = off) is an interval count; every nth line has twice Line width, starting at the origin. Zero gives uniform weights.

Grid spacing
Default: 5 mm. Allowed range: 2–30 mm.
Line width
Default: 0.2 mm. Allowed range: 0.05–1 mm.
Major line every (0 = off)
Default: 5 intervals. Allowed range: 0–10, whole numbers only. Use zero to turn this guide off.

Practical uses

Align arithmetic, plot coordinates, or map out a measured layout. Use 5 mm for compact work and 10 mm for more open sketches.

Printing tips

Start with 12 mm margins and one test page. If a printer clips the edges, increase the margin. Use a darker color or wider lines if the pattern is too faint. Saving a PDF uses the browser print dialog; there is no separate PDF service.

Common problems

If the grid feels too dense, increase spacing. Set major lines to 0 if the heavier reference lines distract from your work.

Invalid inputs display a message and pause updates. Fix the value to refresh the preview. The generator never rescales a pattern to fit a different paper format.

Frequently asked questions

Can I separate calculations into regions?

Open Math practice sheet · 2 or 4 regions and enable it. Two stacked or four 2 × 2 grids can include a title and blank Name / Date areas. Questions and answers are not generated.

Does preview size match the printed sheet?

The preview scales to fit your screen. SVG dimensions use millimeters, but the browser and printer must also use the selected sheet size and 100% scale. Use Print Accuracy Helper to check your own physical output.

Are my settings uploaded?

No. The generator computes the sheet in your browser. Export Settings downloads a JSON backup and Import Settings restores it locally. Remember settings on this device is optional; it saves valid settings for this tool in localStorage. Clear Saved Settings removes that saved copy without changing the current paper. Restore Tool Defaults and Restore This Preset turn saving off and preserve your previous saved copy. Example presets are carried in the page URL and do not replace an existing saved layout unless you enable remembering again.
