Who this helps
For class notes, copying a passage or practicing a word. Compare this 8 mm ruling with the 10 mm handwriting case.
Baseline rhythm
Line spacing is distance between horizontal rules. Here the first rule is 8 mm below the drawing top, 20 mm from the sheet top. Line width changes stroke weight, not baseline distance.
Left reference guide
Left guide offset (0 = off) is measured from the drawing left edge. A 12 mm margin plus 20 mm offset places it 32 mm from the sheet edge. Rules continue across it. It is not a professional binder punching margin or second ruled column.
Compare 8 mm and 10 mm ruling
With 12 mm margins on A4, the 8 mm setup gives 34 horizontal rules; the 10 mm handwriting setup gives 27. Try letters with ascenders and descenders on each. More rules fit at 8 mm; 10 mm gives more vertical room. The drawn word in the teaching diagram is an example to copy by hand, not output from the generator.

Create it step by step
- Open the sheet and confirm A4, Vertical, Millimeters and All margins 12.
- Set Line spacing 8 and Left guide offset (0 = off) 20. Open Line appearance for Line width 0.2 and Pattern color #8aaccb.
- Choose Print / Save as PDF for a 100% test. Write two lines with letters extending above and below the main letter body.
- If crowded, try Line spacing 10. Set Left guide offset (0 = off) to 0 to remove the vertical reference. Inspect the changed preview.

Print or export
Download SVG creates one ruled page. Export Settings backs up spacing and guide placement, not words later written on paper.
Match paper size and orientation. Print at 100% / Actual Size and check one test sheet before making copies.
Common questions
Are there letter-height midlines?
No. Only horizontal rules and an optional vertical reference are generated.
Will the guide protect hole punches?
Check binder holes independently and keep writing clear. The guide is only a drawn reference.
