Who this helps
For drafting a melody or notation exercise. The generator supplies staff lines only.
Staff height and gap differ
Space between staff lines 2 mm gives four spaces in a five-line staff, making it 8 mm high. Clear gap between staves 14 mm runs from the last line to the next first line; first lines are 22 mm apart.
Count complete groups
This A4 setup fits 13 complete staves in 273 mm of drawing height. An 18 mm gap leaves 11. A group is omitted if its fifth line cannot fit. Larger spacing can suit larger handwriting but reduces capacity.
Separate two size decisions
Keep 2 mm line spacing while comparing 14 mm and 18 mm clear gaps: the staff stays 8 mm high, but there is more space between groups. For larger noteheads, increase Space between staff lines instead. The teaching diagram includes notation-like pencil marks and bars only to illustrate handwriting; they are not generated notation or a complete scored exercise.

Create it step by step
- Open A4 portrait and confirm All margins 12 and Display units Millimeters.
- Set Space between staff lines 2 and Clear gap between staves 14. Under Line appearance, confirm Line width 0.2 and Pattern color #8aaccb.
- Count groups in the preview and choose Print / Save as PDF for one 100% test. Try noteheads and annotations to judge writing space.
- Add clefs, key and time signatures, bars and ledger lines by hand. For lyrics or revision space, try Clear gap between staves 18 as in the composition case.

Print or export
Download SVG gives one page of blank staff lines. It contains no generated clefs, notes, beats or complete score, and is not a music notation file.
Match paper size and orientation. Print at 100% / Actual Size and check one test sheet before making copies.
Common questions
Why did a staff disappear?
Increasing spacing or gap can push the fifth line past the drawing boundary. Only complete groups are drawn.
Can this generate a grand staff?
No. Add braces and notation by hand; the tool repeats individual five-line groups.
